The flooding coninues in the nations heartland, Rivers are over their banks, and more water is being let out of Saylorville Resevoir to prevent  the Dam giving way. We hav3e had more severe weather and there are more thundertorms  on the way.

The city of Des Moines closed down all major bridges downtown last eveing, and there is flooding across several  major thouroughfares into the downtown area. The rivers are powerful, currents raging, farm fields washed out, threatening buildings. All that water makes for some breutiful photo ops none the less.

Flooding Update:

The flooding in Des Moines has continued to get much worse, A new Levy  build in 93 after the last big floods has broken, Many people in the  lower areas of the city are evacuated from their homes.

We here are fortunate to live in a  small town located up on a hill, I work on the close end of the city ,so I don’t have to travel across many of the closed roads. My thoughts go out to those not so lucky, and we all pray for a cease in riany weather so the water can  go back down. There will be alot of cleanup, and many of the fields recently planted may not survive. On te way home today one of the fields flooded on my way home had receded, leaving large sections of muddy ground.

Yes, mixed blessings.  Water in that much volume is devastating on the land and infastructure of the communities it effects, not to mention smothering the crops.
I\’m glad you were able to get out on some of the roads to give us these images.  It would be an interesting comparison if you had some images taken from that bridge in non flood times.
Be safe in that next round of bad weather moving in.
    Hug hugs

Wow lots of water your way, got a boat?
That\’s the downside of living where it\’s flat I guess.
Glad you could take advantage of the photo ops and share with us.
